Artist Statement:
We are dorks for life. I was stoked that this was one of the options for this project. The two lovely ladies in these photos are my friends Patzy (left in left photo) and Maria (right in left photo). In our younger photo Patzy and I would have been nine years old at the time and this was Maria's tenth birthday. This was the first time we ever came together as a trio and it's been an ongoing tradition.
At first we tried to imitate the older photo, but we gave up and started to be silly. We couldn't take a decent photo where we weren't making silly faces and laughing so obnoxiously into the night, but I felt this photo truly captured our friendship. Maria hated being in the middle and since I was the shortest, I switched spots with her just to make her happy. Maybe someday in the future, we'll actually try imitate this picture perfectly and it'll be a nice story to tell to the kids.
